Hello Winter Solstice and A Festive Wish

Solstice reflections, a festive poem and holiday greetings.

Hello dear friend,

Today marks the Winter Solstice here in the northern hemisphere, also known as the shortest day or midwinter.

Every year, I make an intention to honor this time somehow, usually by lighting a candle, writing in my gratitude journal or creating a little piece of art.

This morning, I sat quietly in the darkness of my art studio, watching the sunrise.

This year I am in Spain by the sea and my mum is visiting for the holiday season, so we are enjoying the time soaking up the sun, taking little walks and preparing for festive feasting with friends over the coming days.

From now until early January, I am taking some precious time to rest a little from social media and take time away from the computer which is a lovely way to reset before the new year unfolds.

Traditionally, the Winter Solstice is a time for festivals, spending time with loved ones, feasting, singing and dancing. So to mark this precious time in nature here in Spain, I'd like to light a candle this evening and say thank you.

Thankful that from tomorrow, each day will bring more light into our lives and to be grateful for all that I have right now, what the year has brought me and challenged me with and look forward to a wonderful 2025.

A Festive Wish for You.

And lastly as we embark deeper into the holiday season, a little festive poem for you.

My festive wish from me to you
Is to hug someone you love, so much, so true

It’s a time to give joy and celebrate
Let go of bad feelings of anger and hate

Whatever this festive season means to you
I wish you kindness and love in all that you do

For smiles and moments that last for years
To let go of the things that have brought you tears

Wishing you all precious moments in time,
Be loved, be strong, be grateful and kind

Let your heart be open and light
All your troubles be out of sight

A brand new year is oh so near
Give thanks for all that you hold so dear

Take some time to be silent and still
Rejoice in all the joy you can feel.

Let’s sing a festive song or two!
