Hi everyone, I hope your June is going well! In this newsletter, I wanted to show you a few piccies from the gallery show and talk a little more about my work that is currently being exhibited there.
I am also doing a bit of a clear out in my art studio in Spain, so I am deep into donating bags to the charity shop and going through all of my older artwork to see if it inspires a new art project or re-ignites creative projects I have wanted to pursue in the past!

So yes, my show! I am so thrilled to be back in Spain and the featured artist at the Gallery! I gathered some of my Moments in Nature series of paintings and also a few brand new additions to hang.
I am fortunate to be one of the resident artists at the gallery and was absolutely thrilled when I was invited to show my work there, but due to travel, I have not been showing any larger works for the last couple of years.
I strongly believe that nature is our medicine and these paintings were created to bring a sense of that healing energy from nature into the patrons home, with calming scenes of being in nature. I also showcased my very first extra large Botanical Mandala painting that I created for the show. Below is a short video I posted on my Youtube, so you can see the setup.
The two larger paintings on the wall are brand new and I loved creating these so much. Often with abstract art, I tend to keep working on the painting and sometimes overwork it, but the painting on the left, which I called ‘Cloud Atlas’ was kept very simple with its calming blues and gold marks giving a feeling of floating in the air in a place that spans time and space.

Then my Botanical Mandala which is inspired by the beautiful Ice Plant flower that I love seeing along the beach walkway and one that is dear to my heart. I always circle back to paint this one and use in art. It was such a joy to paint this flower in its many stages of growth and views for this mandala design. Below is a closer look and idea of how it sits on the wall in a home. I also love to create a sense of organic movement in my Botanical Mandalas, so there is a feeling of the aliveness of nature around us.

In addition to the Botanical mandalas and abstract art pieces, I showcased a couple of my mandala designs which are layered with paint, collage and more! These too, are inspired by nature in some way. The Lotus Flower blooming, a mandala of cosmos flowers and Ocean Mandala.
The favourite of the show was most certainly my Ocean Mandala which is below. Maybe its because it is the color of the sea here in South Spain that everyone loved, but I had so many comments about it at my opening. Below is a video I shared where you can see it a little closer as requested by a lovely follower on Instagram. I am thinking of creating a large version which would have a much bigger impact on the viewer for sure.
These two lovely ladies drover over an hour to come to the show! They loved my Ocean Mandala.

All of my artworks are available to purchase and I have a showcase on my website HERE. So if you see a piece you would love to hang on your wall, please email me at louisejgale@gmail.com to discuss further.
Alternatively, another way to support my work (if you wish to do so) is via registering for an online art class. You also get to learn how to create Botanical Mandalas and more for yourself! Browse my online classes here.
These two mandalas in the show (you can see them below) can also be found in my Mixed Media Botanical Mandalas on Canvas class here. So you can follow along, learn exactly how I created them and create your own!
My intention is that my work creates some calm with the abstract pieces and also a connection with nature with my botanical mandala artworks. I love creating both types of art and love how all of my artworks sit together at the gallery space.
My boyfriend also built me an amazing rotating bookcase to be housed at the gallery permanently. It has all my books, prints and cards on display! I love it so much. Below is a little video I posted on my Youtube channel!
I am just so happy to be back at the gallery in Spain and plan on creating some smaller, mini works that can be displayed on shelves once my show is over at the end of June. More to come on those which I may have to work on when I return to Spain at the end of August! I’ll be back in the UK for 6 weeks from early July.

Big thank you to Caroline and Lissy at the gallery and everyone involved! I look forward to seeing who the next featured artist will be!

In addition to the gallery show, I have also been clearing out my art cupboards here in Spain and have 100s of little cards with my botanical motifs on them! These are all from sketches, art challenges (such as the 100 days of motifs and Inktober!) little images for my books and so much more! I just posted the short video below over on Youtube, so you can see some of them!
Ideally, I would love to scan my favourites into the computer and see if there is a way to use them for other art projects. I would LOVE to learn about repeat pattern design for fabrics and wallpaper, so that is on my list of new things to learn for another time! I did tiptoe into learning a little about it over 10 years ago, but it seems there are so many more outlets and opportunities in this field now, so I will investigate!
There are still FREE spots for the Creative Weekend available!
A little reminder that in four weeks, I will be participating in the FREE Creative Weekend! I talked about it in my June podcast, so if you would like to find out more, you can pop on over to listen to that episode here or go straight to the FREE signup here. Below is a little visual snippet of what I am teaching in the free weekend and then in the full year long program with 26 other artists. You can read all about them here.
Here is a little peak into the free lesson:
Then a little peek into the 2 lessons that are included in the full program that runs for one year with 78 lessons in total.
I hope to see you there! Going to be fun. xx
I’ll be back with a podcast on July 1st, with a little update on my summer art project! I am still toying with the idea of doing my own 100 day project for myself as I missed the official start date earlier in the year. Did you participate? Or are you embarking on a daily project for this second half of the year too?
Leave me a comment on my Substack post, I would love to hear!
